then the Palomar was tied incorrectly. The harder you pull a Palomar the tighter it gets. Up the tensile strength of the line itself. The line can break, but the knot will never slip if tied correctly.

The Shaw Grigsby knot is a variation of the doubled uni called the double pitzen (Jimmy Houston uses the double pitzen also). Grigsby only uses three wraps, and Mr. Houston uses four; but others like Reddington and Martens use 5-7 when tying a traditional doubled uni.

San Diego jam knot. Wet your line and do not over tighten any knot with fluoro.

Never had a problem with a properly tied Palomar.

The World's Fair knot has worked for me for fluorocarbon and fluoro-coated copolymer. Simple to tie, has double line through the eye like the Palomar. A very reliable knot.

I agree. If tied properly, which means wet and pulled down evenly and slowly, the Palomar is very dependable.

I tell people I slobber on my line like a 14 year old with his first girlfriend. If there is even the slightest "popping" into place when I slowly pull it tight I cut it and start over.

Can't recall the last fail I've had on fluoro with a palomar knot, somewhere close to never. Properly tied it will not slip and you can tie it incredibly fast.

For fluoro to braid the FG knot is my favorite because the size of the knot basically equals the size of your line, so it casts through the guides effortlessly. Only problem is it's not the easiest to tie so I generally use an Alberto knot on the water and an FG if rigging the night before.
