Last week's Port Mansfield trips were action packed. We fished a couple days in warm weather, then got hit by a front and temps dropped a little, which triggered a big fish bite. Mansfield trips are trophy trout trips, with the intention of upping your personal best. One client was able to achieve that, as it was his first ever saltwater wading trip. One day two he hung a beautiful 6.5 pound 27" trout, throwing a Down South Lure pumpkinseed. Over the course of 3 days, we landed several 4-5 pound trout, 4 at 6.5 pounds and more redfish than you could shake a stick at. We threw topwaters, Corky's, and soft plastics over knee deep sand pockets. With the amount of calls and bookings, I have decided to extend the Port Mansfield Trophy Trout Package until the end of April. contact me today to get in on what can be your most memorable trip yet. 2 days of fishing: 3 people $1100 4 people $1300 5 people $1500

Is it because there isn't as much fishing pressure, or is it something else, like a better food source? On a side note, you are living the dream! Nice ! got skunked today so it's good to see a pickmeup I pretty much got skunked last night. I was fishing over at Red Dot pier, throwing chartreuse gulps, and caught one ladyfish and one small trout. Weather forecast said winds from 12 to 13 mph, but it sure felt a lot windier than that. Most of the other fishermen were going for black drums, only saw two caught during the time I was there.

It is a different genetic strand from what I have been told by biologist. I have been told biologist who have come to the Seadrift area and collected live trout to take back to Lake Jackson and spawn, that those fingerlings will be returned only to the area their parents are from for fear of wiping out the population, because genetics cross. They do agree that some trout will migrate to different areas, but that is mother nature contenting with that, not human error. Food source might have some to do with it. but we fish in the same rafts of mullet as we do in Seadrift. That part I really can't explain. I do not think it has anything to do with fishing pressure. Take Baffin bay for example, In my opinion there is more traffic there than any other spot on the coast, given the size of water. I know one thing is for sure, it is a lot of fun to go to Port and have the chance at chasing trophy trout, with the next personal best just a cast away. Let me take you down there one day! LOL
