Anyone have one of the trolling motors like iPilot or Xi5?
What's your opinion?
I'm tossed between one of these or Powerpoles.

Love my terrova will never not have a boat without one. Power poles have depth limitations. The GPS trolling motors can anchor you anywhere. The big advantage of the power poles is you can eliminate the boat sway, especially if you use two poles. If you go with a trolling motor that can link to fish finder they are even better

PowerPole works shallow. Spot Lock works in deeper water, but it isn't an anchor, you will move around some.

This^^^^^^^^^^^^

Also, the new Minn Kota I Pilots are redesigned and have a tighter spot lock. I'm thinking about upgrading to one of them. I will never have another boat w/o a GPS type TM. The things you can do with them make things easier.

They both have uses. I love my Talons and at Truman that is what I use most. Down here in Texas I use my Ultrex. If you fish heavy timber the Ultrex is not helpful as it doesn't see trees under water and keeps running into them. But the newer spot lock is fantastic. We fished under a bridge with heavy wind and the spot lock keep right there.

I have the Xi5 on my xpress and the spot lock does wonders for me. This lightweight tin rig in the wind can get blown around a bunch. When I find a good spot I spot lock it and it'll hold me pretty close to that spot. The only thing I have found is the wind will spin me around so you have to watch your tail end arond trees and shorelines.
