Seems this winter has had some strange patterns. There has not been a week of stable temperatures. One week it is 70's and mid 80's and the next it is 30's and 50's. I personally have not seen much of a pattern change in Crappie or bass. Sunfish have been a different story. I am still catching nice Bluegill and Redbreast in shallow water (5 to 8 feet) Usually I am catching em in deeper water hanging with the Crappie by brush piles. (14 to 20 feet). Also the creeks seem to be more active. Any one else experience any change of patterns? hmmm

It's the same in SE Colorado also. We had thick ice totally covering the lakes I fish two weeks ago. Today, the lakes are all about half covered, half open water. That last big blast of wind we had was unseasonably warm and did most of the thawing. It has been back and forth with arctic blasts and warm ups. The people I've talked to here say it's not to unusual, but the warm ups are warmer than normal and have come and stayed more often than usual for this time of year. I have a feeling February will give us all the cold we want and more.

Bless the Lord, O my soul,

This winter has been on the mild side. Creeks have been active all winter long due to the mild winter. I have also picked up nice sunfish in 8 to 14 feet of water off of docks that are usually not active during this time of year for sunnies. I have picked up some Crappie at the usual winter spots. Looks like yet another front is moving in this morning. Wind is blowing pretty hard. You are right Curtis. There has been no stable weather pattern this winter. Welcome to South Texas. texas

Seems the sunnies are staying pretty active during this warm winter.
