So when running out, how many rods and set ups does everyone take? I usually fish alone and have rods for catfish/crappie/sandies rigged and on the boat with me so I can change my mind if the bite is slow. Wondering if I am missing the boat though for only bringing xx number for each as opposed to loading up for one species. Appreciate the feedback. Just wondering how everyone else loads up on a normal morning out.

I usually have at least 3 or 4 bait rods, 3 or 4 lighter rods for vertical lures or chunk and wind, or heavy rods for trolling. What I have on the boat will work for sandbass, hybrids, striper or cats. If I catch another species then alrighty then. I don't target others though. Also depends on how many folks will be on my boat that day as to how many rods I load up.

I have 2 spinning and two baitcaster each set the same. On occasion I have broken a rod and I am not heading in to get another rod when the fishing is good.

I always take 4 different bait cast reels (different ratios) with different rods (casting, flipping, etc). I will also usually take 2 spin cast rod and reels for jigging and windy days. This can accommodate black bass, white bass, crappie for me.

I try to stay on my game plan during a given trip even if the bite is slow. I try to adapt and become better at chasing a specific species rather than changing gears completely int he middle of a trip.
No matter what, my two favorite spinning rigs are in the boat. These are my go-to for chasing lineside fish. Things expand from there depending on the plan. If trolling might be an option, then the two trolling rigs (spinning) get thrown in. If I plan to switch over to blues after dark, then my four catfish rods get included, also spinning. While I don't necessarily mind having 6-8 rods in the boat, I try to keep the number to a minimum on a given outing.
If anyone is with me, count their rods too. Although I start cringing if they show up with more than 3 unless we are targeting catfish or drowning minnows.
If you're not living on the edge, you're taking up too much space!
