OK after the post from a couple of weeks ago, I bought a windshield wiper motor and made a thumper. I have it wired on the fast speed, but still doesn't seem very fast. How fast of a rhythm are ya'll using to thump? Thx

1 1/2 to 2 thumps per second usually works with my patented Bobo's Thumper

I set my bobosthumper about half that speed and it works and only gives me half the head ache!

Guess I will go to Grapevine today with some Bob Marley thru the sonic hub and bass turned all the way up.
4 speakers and a sub woofer ought to do it with 200 watts.

From Genesis: "And God promised men that good and obedient wives would be found in all corners of the earth."

Then He made the earth round...and He laughed and laughed and laughed!

Mine is one beat per second. Worked just fine. As long as you get a hard solid thump you'll be fine. Mine is made out of windshield wiper motor too.

Well, hoping I can catch the slow fish because I'm getting about 1 beat per second also. Not sure what kind of motor would get more RPM's without costing allot. Thx to all.

For the homemade windshield wiper version, just add more contact points to the rotating arm to increase the rate of the thump sound. Two contact points 180 degrees apart doubles the rate. You probably couldnt add any more than that - it starts looking like a ninja star pretty soon! More than two contact points would also likely force you to change the pivot point and angle of the hammer. Needs enough time time to hit the bottom before the next contact point comes around to lift it up.

capnkirk, thx but I'm already using two contact points. I may play around and see if 3 would work?

Double contact points at 120 bps is good. You can use a rheostat/speed controller /variable resistor to slow it down.

I must have got a weaker/slower motor because it's not turning 60 RPM's to get 120 with 2 contact points.

8upwithfishin'- I made a four pointed star, similar to star drag adjustment knob. With a rheostat, you can get whatever speed you want. Turning less rpm's makes battery last longer, lower amp draw. If you really want to crank it up, put rubberband or two on mallet arm to pull it down faster and it will not just bounce on fingers of star, and stay airborne. Here's a cheap enough speed controller:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/9-50V-40A-DC-Motor-Speed-Control-PWM-HHO-RC-Controller-12V-24V-48V-2000W-MAX/371175245087?_trksid=p2047675.c100011.m1850&_trkparms=aid%3D222007%26algo%3DSIC.MBE%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D20140602152332%26meid%3D278a617cfba14f24bda8cb0a0b31c73f%26pid%3D100011%26rk%3D3%26rkt%3D8%26sd%3D391093301357

I put one of these on trolling motor with splasher prop, and it is working pretty good to get exactly the speed I want. Happy thumpin, splashing or whatever
