I fished at one of the ponds at George Bush park off of Westheimer and caught two catfish that we're 18 inches long. One was two pounds and the other was two and a half. I wasn't out there long, but two is better than nothing. I think they have three ponds in the park.
I'm going to try this pond on saturday off of Eldridge near Spring Cypress. Someone told me that they have a lot of bass in the pond. It's in a neighborhood, but I can't remember the name. I'll let you know when I find out the name. I'm going out to the George Bush pond tonight.

I was driving along today and noticed Clear Creek on Hwy 3 just North of League City. It looked more like a pond or small lake of sorts, does anyone know if this site has access or how the fishing is?

I used live in clear lake and fished clear creek quite often. When the tide is right, I caught a bunch of redfish, specks, and sand trout around the brigdes. But my farovite thing to fish for in clear is big bluecat.
If you learn how the fish position on the tide, you can have 2 hour of real fast action for blue in the 5lbs-15lbs with one every now and then over 20lbs.
They wanted live finger mullet, But some times they are hard to find in the creek, so i used cut mullet. If you want the really big ones use huge chunks of cut mullet(head always catches the biggest one). Big enough crabs can eat on it for hours without taking the whole thing. It funny you see the crab pulling on your line, then the clicker is scream as a bigcat heads down stream.
When it rain real hard for a few days, and the creak starts rushing the cats pile up on humps and any current breaks. This is when i have my best luck with the flatheads.
If you are looking for bass check the post on tom bass.

Hey Meatkutter,
Post a pic! I would trade ya ponds, but the one that I've been going to is a private pond. I'm going to try the pond you have been fishing, if you don't mind. If I come across any new spots I'll let you know. I've been pretty busy lately and just started doing more fishing latley.

Live like 20-25 minutes from that hammerly one, never knew it existed. Probably because im never on that side of town. Remember playing basketball there years back, I was the only cracka out there lol. There are a ton of ponds in brookshire, however i dont have access to some of them anymore. Anyone ever fished the ponds behind hwy6/addicks on the south side of I-10. U walk up that hill by that stop n go (or sumthing) store. like half way between I-10 and west oaks mall?

Meatkutter,
Is that spring fed pond open to the public?
Here's my trade: A good place to catch channels (that is when it hasn't been raining for 2 months) is Langham Creek @ Bear Creek Park. There's lots of access points to that creek around the park. I've caught channels up to 5 lbs. Patterson road has a nice spot also on the south side of the park. There's lots of trailway parks all the way down south from there down to Buffalo Bayou. I've never tried to eat anything out of that creek but have talked to some folks who have and they claim the cats taste fine. I think I'll stick to my Somerville supply for now. Most of that park is probably flooded at the moment and Patterson has been shut down for weeks.
There's a little pond in a shopping center on 59 south that I've seen but have not fished. It's across the parking lot from a Sam's Boat.
Oh yeah, there's a thread on the site somewhere (I think the whitebass section?) which points out some good access points for Spring Creek in NW Houston.

I hit a nice big pond / lake... It is off tollway between woodlands and cypresswood. I think the subdivision is called Nort something. It is a huge pice of water. I seen a couple canoe it. Has some gators and they can be seen also near the dam area. We pulled a few nice 2 punders and heard it is loaded with cats. I just pull bass with top waters.

OK I looked to make it more understandable. It is Northgate Crossing and the address is 25000 or 26000 Northgate Crossing Spring, Texas 77373. Where I have found the bass is on the Neighborhood side. Pull in on the gravel road park on end and walk to the tree line. You will see the brush and weeds. Pitch it short and they will hit if they are biting. I have also seen some nice crappie in it. "Watch out for gators" I have seen a couple 4+ footers and one HUGE monster. Nothing like in Choke Canyon, those boys are some giants.

Tom Bass Park off Beltway 8 and Cullen(near 288) is a great place to fish for LMB(mostly small ones). The lake is about 15 acres and 40ft.deep...old sand pit/ crystal clear. To catch fish scale down your line(8lb)and lures. There is an abundance of grass and some laydown logs. In January it istocked with rainbows and is well worth the visit!

Hey guys. Has any one fished in the pond at Eisenhower Park? Been there a few times, and seen nothing but bait fish. Well.. my niece caught a small cat about about 12 inches long, and I saw a Cottonmouth chompin' on 1 a while back... So I assume there's somethin in there, but does any one know if there's anything in there besides pint sized kitty's and some small perch? Is Lake Woodlands any good? As I'm a rookie, any feedback is appreciated.

I've hit Eisenhower a couple times with punch bait and barely caught anything at all. I hear that you can walk down to the river eddies from that park but then I've heard other folks talk about security restrictions near the Lake Houston dam. I think there might be some water quality issues further downstream with some sort of EPA Super Fund site.
Deussen Park is right next door but I've never had any luck fishing from the bank there either. Though I have caught shad there.

Catfish Jac, wow man. For a second there, I thought I was the only one having sour luck at Eisenhower and Deussen. I took the wife there Sunday, and we hit the water back there close to the rear parking lot at Eisenhower... She complained about gnats and bees, so we left after about 20 minutes. then we hit the small pond and the 2nd entrance to the park. Finally, we hit Deussen. Not a single hit on either 3 of the spots. Might talk her into going to Lake Conroe this weekend. Thanks for the feedback though... It lifted my spirits knowing that it may not be the angler after all that's causing the lack of hits.
