Does anyone have any experience with a Garmin EcoMap 93sv? I am looking at buying one but have always been either a Humminbird or Lowrance fan.

The reviews online have been good, but I would like a bass fisherman's opinion, one who has actually used it

I have one, and I love it. really clear pictures, and very user friendly. The map leaves a little to be desired, the built in map does not show much detail, and I haven't checked to see if navionics or lakemaster make chips for it yet.

I bought 2 about a month ago. Can't get them set up right yet. Bad picture quality.

They are good units. Make sure you get the Chirp version.

Set up might be the problem but check you transducer angle. Any unit will have bad picture quality if the angle is not correct. Just some trouble shooting. I have the Chirp and down scan and it is best I've owned.

I'm sure they just need tweaking. Don't think it's the transducer angle. 1 on the tm and 1 on the jackplate. I did the software update, that helped. Still not quote right.

I think it is more user friendly and a better picture than my similar priced humminbird. I have the upgraded map chips for both and would say I like humminbird maps better for the lakes I fish the most. Networking two garmins was super easy. No matter what, get chirp and you will be fine either way.

Thanks to my buddy Brad, I am now switching over to Garmin on one of my boats so a question I have is, how do they network a 93sv at the console with a 73sv or another 93sv on the bow? Is it as simple as using a ethernet cable or do you need a box similar to some of the LSS technology?

Super easy. Both graphs have a blue and orange wire that are only used for networking. Hook the orange wire from one graph to the blue wire on the other graph, and vice versa.

One wire is "send" and the other is "receive". By cross connecting them, you're allowing both graphs to send and receive between each other.

You also do not need any special wire or cable to do this. Also, the only networking capabilities of the Garmin is sharing waypoints.
