Just wondering if anyone on here was in the bass boat late yesterday afternoon (Jan 26th) on Conroe that had the pontoon boat cut in front of them. I thought they were going to collide, not sure how close they actually got but it sure looked close. I was about a 1/4 mile or less behind the bass boat and the pontoon boat went in front of me also but I saw what had just happened and had slowed way down. The guy went right in front of me and just waived when I threw my arms up. The other bass boat turned around and I'm not sure if they followed the guy in the pontoon boat or just decided to go somewhere else on the lake. The pontoon was moving along at a decent speed. Saw a pontoon yesterday with a Verado 300 on it.

Been so nice out there without the recreational boats the last week or two. Sounds like they may be making their way back out there, though. Monday was absolutely beautiful. Lake was smooth and could fish all my spots w/o a bunch of wave action.

We call that "a regular Saturday" on Conroe.

Another phenomenon you will find is that if you are in a creek alone by yourself for more than 20 minutes you will see jetskis come out from under the water and start getting real close to you. Its nice of them to get close so you can see them smiling and riding around. We also refer to that as the Conroe Hydrowave.

I really think most people have no clue about etiquette. You would think that giving parked bass boats or other vessels as wide of berth as possible would be somewhere between sort of intuitive and blatantly obvious. Very frustrating sometimes.

The bass boat and I were headed south and the pontoon was headed northwest and went towards Walden Marina. The pontoon was to the east of us and turned and crossed in front if us. Not necessarily surprising on Conroe but it sure looked like the two got close. If I hadn't of almost come to a stop he would have hit me.

Monday was definitely nice, one of the best days I've seen on Conroe in a while. I dread it warming up and the madness starting.

The bass boat definitely had the right away and so did I. The pontoon changed his course to cross in front of us. He still came pretty close to us and was between me and he shore. I think the guy was just clueless but it sure got my attention watching them headed right towards each other.

Awful lot of pontoon rentals on Conroe too. Hand the rental place the cash and they toss you the keys with very little or no instruction. Regardless, can't teach some folks to use some common sense and keep an eye out for other boat traffic. Glad everyone was OK.

One sure thing about Conroe, you have to have your head on a swivel all the time! Seems like every time i'm on the lake i see something that makes me cringe!

Honestly thought i was going to witness a collision just last week, there was a fella, had his T-Motor down fishing the big flat on the NE side of Atkins out in front of the Condos at the end of Walden Road, dude comes busting [censored] around the corner in a WakeBoard boat, heading north roughly 40-50 yards out in front of the no wake buoys, see's the guy fishing at the last minute and makes an abrupt right turn out toward the middle of the lake to avoid hitting him! These folks haul [censored] around with their bow up and cannot see where the heck they're going....see it all the time!

Learned that last year running North and water skiers were using the run lane. Not real familiar on how wide the run lane through the timber is so I just dropped off plane and idled...the ski boat seemed mad that I was interfering with their fun.

Run lane through the timber? Didn't know there was one.

Yes you have to watch every boat running the lake. Even the bass boats.

Good point. I made a run up to the river and should have said shoreline to the timber...That run is a zig-zag path of fun.
