Possibly in the market for a new boat. Ive been doing some research on the Lowrance 3D Structure Scan and for every positive review there is a negative to go along with it. Just want some of your opinions about it. Huge waste of money or great investment?

I have it and here's my take. I'm glad I have it but I could be just fine without it. If you fish offshore a lot it can be a vital tool. If you fish in less than 10ft of water the majority of the time then it's not really worth the extra money. I'd say it's best for ledge fishing but it also works when fishing drop offs, anywhere there are large rocks, and humps too.

I have it also and never use it cause the detail is lacking it does not have the side imaging quality
not worth the money i should pull mine and sell it just to lazy knowing what i know now i would not have bought it
that money could have been use on a lot of better things total waist in my opinion side and down imaging is where it is at
maybe in 5 years when it gets better detail it might be worth it

Best advice you can get right here. Everything has a purpose, if you think you'll use it fine, if not it's not worth it.

I don't use the 3D much, but the side scan is much improved on that transducer. Well worth the money for that alone.
