TPWD shows the proper method for measuring soft tailed fish (bass) is to pinch the tail.

Is this the way most tournaments measure fish or is it a tournament to tournament thing? TTZ?

I keep a picture of that TP&W measuring tip on my phone just in case I ever need to show a director/weigh master in case they measure it different.

Great idea. We had one today that made 14 only after we pinched the tail and the director was cool with it. Thanks for the help!
