Might do a search going back to 2010 or 2011, I believe that's when there may have been some mention of them.

Tom do they have to be sour? Just got some green and chartreuse colored ones for a trip I'm taking tomorrow and I tried one of them. They're pretty dang good but not sour...head back to Wal-Mart you think? Catching shad for a back up bait....

I have it on good authority that Santa and Bigfoot have been seen fishing with gummy worms also---
But Tom is a PB machine so I would pay attention---

Yup,no secret that sour gummy worms work, just have to put the man hours in to find the right flavor. Shad is good, but I think turkey hotdogs work better as a backup bait. You know you found a hotspot when the ground is littered with empty gummy worm bags and energy drink cans. popcorn2 Loose lips sink ships my friend.

I used to soak some of them gummy worms in Dead Red, just to spice them up a bit! But on day I got snaky and mixed up the treated and untreated bags..... Let me tell ya! Dead Red does not taste good. Even on gummy worms. hammer sick

I don't know about everybody else, but I spritzed them up a bit with Dead Red before I tossed them out. Two sour red gummy worms on a 8/0 Gamakatsu, each just hooked through the middle once, I'm not bass fishing. Santee Cooper rig with a 4 ounce sinker and one of those small weighted Comal foam bobbers to provide float about six inches above the hook.

I was going about 50/50 that it was a joke until last night.

I thought this was a years long running joke. This is blowing my mind, lol. But hey, i didn't think chicken breast could compete with shad, and I've seen it outperform with my own eyes.

Heavylead I thought this was a joke too, like asking a new golfer if he waxed his tees. Okay now for the real answer please. Does anyone uses sour gummy bears for bait? Just to show I'm serious I'll provide a bait tip. Fresh shad is a good choice when fishing for catfish.

Yep. It was actually a 6/0 circle hook, confused my rigs and rods when I was typing the original post. The blue in the pic hit the gummies about 10 last night like a ton of bricks. It had been out for maybe an hour before I got the hit.

I filleted that 15 pounder tonight and got curious about the stomach contents. Some sort of fish bone and one of the sour gummy worms, in three pieces. That was a trip to see, even after knowing what I'd baited the hook with.

Shame that it was already swallowed by the time I took this on the shore:

OK, so this is not a video, because I had a running electric fillet knife in one hand when I took the picture. But I'd have to be really bored to take a joke this far. smile

I've posted a picture of the gummy worm from the stomach of the catfish to my Google drive. The obligatory warning if you choose to view it:

My wife bought what she thought was fish oil gel caps but it turned out to be fish oil gummies I couldn't gut chewing them suckers so I'm going to give them a try.

Look forward to hearing how it goes, I won't be able to make it back out until Saturday night and Sunday morning. Going to give them a try along with cut buffalo and chicken gizzards then.
