One cooling tower on a building or campus waist more water in a day than hundreds of houses watering lawns. Most building have 4 or 5 cooling towers. When you drive down the road and see the evaporation coming off these towers, that should show you how much water is consumed. They can evaporate a pool in a couple of days, and run all summer long. The city and corporate use the water, housing is a smaller part than we are lead to believe
