My wife's best friend Tracy Kraemer was up hanging out with my wife yesterday at my house when her neighbor called to inform her that her house was on fire.

3 Fire Battalions were called.
She lost all her pets except for one that is in critical condition at the Vet Hospital.
The house is a total loss.
She lost everything.
The Fire was electrical and started in the attic above the Master Bedroom.

Tracy is a Paramedic.
Her Brother is a Fire Battalion Chief for the City of Frisco Fire Department.

I have never witnessed the absolute devastation that I saw yesterday first hand and with someone that I know.

It is truly horrific and heartbreaking.

As a fireman I have seen it too often. The best comparison is to that of a family death.
Sorry for their loss and pets.

A horrible loss!

Here is an update:

Fire Investigator changed his cause in the fire.

It is believed the fire now started due to a cell phone charging cord.

She has an Apple iPhone, but the cord was not an Apple cord. It was plugged into the wall, but was not in use at the time.

She does not remember the manufacturer or where she got it. She has had the cord several years.

The Fire Investigator said it started with the cord and it caught her bed on fire.

He recommended staying away from 3rd party cell charging cords that were not Apple or MFI certified.
He stated stay away from the ones you see in 7-11 and other convenience stores at the checkout counter.
He stated that Cell Charging Cords, Cell Charging Blocks that you plug into the wall, heating pads, space heaters, and Electric Blankets were some of the culprits he saw a lot when it comes to fires.

He strongly recommended that when you are done charging your cell phone that you unplug the cord out of the wall everytime.

I know I am totally guilty of leaving the plug in the wall, taking my phone off the cord, and going about my day.

After talking to the Fire Investigator I have been unplugging my charging cord in the morning out of the wall socket.
I thought I would pass along what I had learned so that it might save someone else from suffering the same fate as Tracy.
