I've always crappie fished every year here in east Texas but most of what I do is with minnows . I have done some jigging but have had very minimal luck with it. What are some common colors yall suggest and what style are you using I.E. ( black and chartreuse feather jig or and black and silver soft plastic ). I fish a lot of brush piles and have been finding lots of suspensed fish this year with our high water temps and would really like to get more in to jigging for a lot of reasons. I'm not asking for your secrets just a little help to get me started in it.

Ive had best luck with pink or orange jig heads and for the body white/chart black/chart silver/chart these are the color combos I almost always start with and is what I've had great results with and Im confident with.

If you want tough long lasting jigs these are the choices. I have used all others and they are just too soft and tear easily. Start with white/Chartruse or anything that has one of those colors in it. Change colors to water ckarity sane as any bait type or species. If you see fish on sonar change presentation and depth first and then colors if no bite. Happy Thumping. http://constantpursuitoutfitters.comhttp://www.g-daddycrappietackle.com

For great plastics, Thermocline Lures, Crazy Angler Slad Bandits, and Constant Pursuit Outfitters. Check their web sites. Every kind of color and body size/shape you could ask for. For hand tied jigs visit the Jig Makers section at the head of this forum. There are many great jig tyers on here and these are the best jig makers I've ever seen, bar none.
Colors: for stained or muddy water, dark colors or bright colors; clear water, natural bait fish colors.

This is probably the most important thing. Don't be afraid to try unique combos, blue/white, chartreuse/white, blue/chartreuse or plastics with pink or orange in the mix.

This jig has worked best for me at Lake of the Pines. Bigger fish seem to like it also. Redgun made me several of these.
