Alright, so I've never caught a crappie. I have heard that they are fun to catch, plentiful, and taste great. Here is my question. How do you target them? What baits do i use, how do I fish those baits, and what time of year is best.

Hire a guide, or going to a barge watching how other people doing it, and ask questions.

Very big differences based on tools: bank, boat w/ side imaging vs without, lures, minnows, etc. Crappie was my Bane for a year and a half when I started. Like Fishbonz said videos or online articles based on what you have or are willing to get is the place to start.

Eric.

Just as the above have said. You did not say if you have a boat or not. Keep looking on this site and YouTube. Plenty of info. It is a real challenge. Not easy.

fish I would make a post on TFF asking for a back seat from someone in your area and explain that you are interested in learning to catch crappie. Also and importantly offer to buy gas, bait and food. Any good trip will be well worth the cost plus you may find a real fishing buddy. flag

Add your location to your profile and maybe someone close to you will offer you some guidance. I have met quite a few quality people off of this forum by doing that.
