I was at BPS and took some info home on the Micro Anchor System...Seems interesting. I have a Skeeter SX 17, so I think this would work for my rig. My question for ya'll is this...

Is anyone out there using it and what has the experience been like?

It seems pretty cost effective for what I am looking to do. I think it will help when sight fishing.

Thank you in advance for the feedback.

I have one and I haven't been all that impressed with it. First off, it comes with two remotes - one to mount in your boat wherever you'd like and the other is similar to a key fob that you keep on you. Neither work with a darn. I don't know if if the batteries are low on them or what, but the majority of the time I have to go to the actual unit and press up or down.
Secondly, the pole is 8' long, but the actual unit sits about 2' or so above the water when attached to your boat. So, you can really only anchor in 6' of water or less, it's probably closer to 5' to get a good anchor.
Maybe someone can help me and tell me I'm using the thing incorrectly, but my overall experience isn't good. Could just as easily be chunking an actual anchor overboard.

Thanks for the info... I was curious on the 8 ft spike and how it holds...Is there a way to mount it lower?

we run one on our 17.6 G3 sportsman, it has worked well for us, I bought the removable mount so it can sit a little lower on the transom and it has worked well.
My remotes work well. Its not a full on power pole but it has been very helpful at times.

I would imagine there is a way to lower it on your boat, but I'm not aware of any.
Los Lagos, what's the range on your remotes? My key fob just flat out doesn't work. The one intended to be secured to the boat works sometimes, but it needs to be pretty close to the unit.
If the key fob would work while I was at the front of the boat and the anchor was on the back of the boat I would have a different opinion about the thing, but as of now I have to walk to the back of the boat and lower it each time. A pretty big pain.

Los Lagos...Thanks for the info. How was the installation? Scale of 1 to 10 in difficulty? I have installed all my electronics, but I'm curious on the process of this install...Some drilling is in order, right?

I started off by using a stick it pole. The micro is just an electric version of this. Actually it can use the same pole. It was good up to about 4 or 5 FOW but did not work in anything over about 10mph. The rod would bend and pop out of the mud. The nice part was you could tie it up to any of your cleats.

My next upgrade was the Micro for my Nitro x5 (17'4" FG). Used it once and took it back. Too much flex in the pole for anything over about a 10mph wind, same as the stick it pole. The wind was over 10 that day and it was worthless to me. I returned it and got a single 8' sportman and could not be happier with my decision. installed it myself in a little over an hour. Wish I had 2, but it's not in my budget right now.

You may okay with an aluminum boat but it did work for me.

Thanks G Pope....Yeah, I am thinking that the lighter aluminum boat may be OK. I may wait for the sportsman when I can afford it.

Check the link below for a cheap, effective alternative. It holds my 17.5 aluminum no problem. Different size poles, so you can use in multiple water depths.

I'm pretty sure flukemaster over on youtube uses one for his kayak. Based on the other replies here I'd say that's its best use.

Thanks for all the feedback...I think I'm gonna pass on this anchor...I am going to sell my SX17 and get a bigger boat with a power pole...At least that's the plan!
