I've got a question...do you guys that fish deep cranks think that if one were to holograph the bill of a deep diving crank you would get more bites? Seems like it would be a mimic of a spoon and crank....just thinking about this. Thanks

Its usually pretty dark at deep depths in most of our lakes. I dont think color, reflection or holograph makes a difference.

Neon colors keep their color no matter the depth. Maybe neon holographic if that's even possible?

I typically keep it super simply with colors in general. Whether it's soft plastics or hard baits, but if your really want to know how deep fish can see color here is a pretty good graph.

I was just about ready to respond and explain what is displayed in the graph then there it was. But would like to add that the bill of a deep diver is swaying back and forth at such a high speed what would a fish see???

I put scales on my bills, BUT you have to be careful and NOT mess with the balance of the bait. I use stick ons and it works. BUT you have to be careful to not get the balance out of control, the way I do it. If you are going to truly holograph some, it ought to be interesting. OH, I fish nearly ALL my CBw with a DOODAD, a dressed treble hook that adds a TON of action to the baits. Hope this helps. Tight lines, keep safe and good luck.

The right deep crank in front of active or reactive fish will get bites. Color or special patterns might help or hurt depending on the fish. Confidence fishing what you have on is key. Its an interesting concept/idea.

Sounds like another gimmick to sell baits, if you build it they will buy. coolio

I agree.

Order of importance= depth 1st, speed 2nd, color last. It doesn't matter what color it is if it's not in front of the fish. If it's in front of their face and moving at the right speed to trigger that fish as long as its close to a natural color they're going to eat it

I'm thinking more or less something similar to a spoon. The bill of a deep diver has ample real estate...so I want to take advantage of that. Thanks for the feedback

It will work it you can get allot of flash out of it. I picture the crank bouncing off cover and the bill reflecting around like a spoon

I think the fish are tracking the bait from the side or from behind. You can only see the bill when it's coming at you. I think it could add a bigger profile to your bait only at certain angles, but would it be a natural look (would they care). I think it wouldn't impact your bites, but only one way to find out... DO IT
