Yep title says it all coming soon to Lake Somerville. A one on one tutoring service for beginner fisherman. One time flat rate fee. Paid clients can return as many time as needed till they no longer need the service. You don't pay unless you are 100% Satisfied!! THIS IS NOT A GUIDING SERVICE. Half a million dollars insurance policy to start out but amount will increase as business grows. Complete policy is available for review at clients request.

Why didn't I think of this? It's rewarding when others tell you later how well they did using techniques you have taught them.

Will that be in your boat or the clients? It will be on my boat. Reason is boat will have a veriety of Humminbird fish finder models from the older to the later model on the boat and other rigs that would extend a wider range of hands on learning and more opportunities to catch fish. All tutoring will be done on nice calm semi calm days only. Here's what clients can expect. It's a hands on tutoring. Clients is require to play and adjust the fish finder all day till they feels comfortable and feels like they have got all the basic down like it's second nature. Once patterns, baits and tactics is discuss and a few example is performed clients is require to look for fish as if they were on their own boat. Once they find the fish they are require to properly postion and anchor the boat. And when all that is done by the clients them self and the catching begins. I don't think they will ever need to come back but are more than welcome to do so.

Good idea I might pay for (at the right price point) just too far away.

Good idea I might pay for (at the right price point) just too far away. Fish Denton I'm sure the price would be some where pretty close to a full day trip for on a guided boat. I wanna provide winter fishing here on Somerville but due to the mild winter we have here fish are behaving a lot different than the fish further up North. There's other Lake that does better with winter techniques like Conroe and Livingston but my main focus now is on a warm weather bites that should be happening pretty soon once them fish return from their spawning grounds. I'm no expert but believe if people giving me a chance to show beginner fisherman the Three P that they can walk away to any lake and at least have a decent day. If a client does not exhibit those Three P after a day of fishing I'm probably not gonna charge them. That trip is on me. The three P P- patient P- persistent P-practice,practice,practice

Call it what you want but when you charge someone to go fishing in your boat the state of Texas is gonna require you to have a guide license and if your customer gets hurt recreational insurance policy aint gonna cut it.

Guide license can be obtain from tpwd. I'll talk to my lawyer about insurance and wavier option's. If all else fail I'll tutor on clients boat. Can't sue me if they get hurt on their own boat. Only worry I should be worrying about is do I have what it takes to acomplish and satisfied clients needs. Never know unless you try. Gotta start some where. Thanks!! for the input.

Bruce, Captain Barnes is 100% correct when he states that "your recreational insurance policy ain't gonna cut it". Most standard Boatowners insurance policies specifically exclude losses which occur while the boat is "being used for any commercial purpose". Be sure you know what your policy says. I hope you succeed with your new venture, just trying to make sure you heed some sound advice. Be careful relying on the waiver also, it may get you out of the courthouse but it won't stop anyone from suing you, and you'll have to pay that lawyer to defend you. You'll be better off with a good insurance policy that provides coverage while operating your boat for a fee. With today's legal environment, a man can lose all he has worked for in his life in one lawsuit because of one bad accident. The GOOD guides plan for the unexpected and have coverage in place to take care of their clients if something happens. Be one of those guys...like Captain Barnes.
