I have a 21 ft hawk right now with a 72 lb thrust trolling motor and in high winds like today it will only last 2 to 3 hours of fishing, and wont keep up with the wind. I want a good trolling motor but don't wanna spend over around 1500. Just wondering what is a good size trolling motor for a 21 ft boat. I would like to stay with 24 volt system if I have to, but 36 volt may be what I need. I just don't have enough room for another battery.

i almost think you have to go 36v. I run a 17'6 boat and have a 24v. 72 lb. MG. to much is better than not enough.

tigers what size boat do you have? If you don't add another battery 80lb is your only option. I would suggest a 112 but you don't have room for a battery so...80lb. It will run all day on two good batteries. Won't be as fast as a 112lb but it will get you around.

80 Fortrex will work. I have a 21'-10" boat running a 112 Fortrex, I can fish two full days and then some on one charge.

I get to run my brand new 80 lb Terrova tomorrow on an 18' Skeeter. I'll let you know the ups and downs after I got back.

I actually have room to have a 36V trolling motor. Right now I have a 24 volt trolling motor and then I have 2 batteries wired parallel for big motor and accessories. I could always just have one for big motor and accessories I guess. Got 4 batteries in boat right now. Decisions decisions lol.

Why 2 for the motor? I have 1 for the motor and it runs two 12 graphs, live well, power poles, everything but the trolling motor.
