Could I get some info from you experienced jig makers about powder paint? (I never heard of powder paint until I started nosing around these parts). I have in the past used fingernail polish, hobby paint, I think I've even used Krylon spray paint.....puddling it in the cap.

Obviously powder paint is the way to go.....but why?
Where is the best place to buy small amounts of it?
Are any other paints acceptable for jig heads?

You can use what makes ya happy but PP for sure holds better & last longer.....
Anywhere you get your tying material will have it....
There's a process to pp'ing that really helps make it look GREAT....there's several threads here just do a search....

I went to Wallyworld and bought a cheap heat gun and made my own fluid beds.
You will also have to make a rack to hang them on in a preheated oven for about 20 minutes at 350�

Get the colors you like best, BUT baitfish is a clear color with glitter in it and you will want two of them as you will find yourself using it on top of other colors.
A small jar lasts a very long time, so don't worry about running out for a while (except baitfish ... I used a whole jar in less than a year)

Check out TJ's and also best place to buy a fluid bed and cups! He also has some custom colors you can get. I buy at least 2 oz jars and truth told most of mine in in pound containers, but that's another story! TJ's if you want 2 Oz jars is less than Crazy Angler, but if you want 1 OZ jars, then CA has that! I like the 3" cups for painting so a 1 oz jar is too small for mine.

Also get you a pound of Clear Gloss from Rosey's to thin some paints.

Yes you can also use Vinyl which is really even more durable than Powder Paint, but there is the drying time which is longer than the time it takes to cure Powder Paint and it does need curing in the oven!
