Seems like they are looking for a reason to blame boaters and don't seem to want to factor in all the flooding last year. Maybe I'm wrong though.

Flooding only spreads invasives in that drainage, not to another drainage.

Yeah, I got that in an email from TPWD yesterday. I filled it out, but I also got the same feeling that it is looking to place blame and/or gather information that will be used to create new legislation which would place more stringent regulations on boaters.

And here I though carrying a receipt from where I bought my minnows would fix it all.

Questions like, do you dry your boat? Well, yeah I dry the top; but who is going to dry the hull? Their answers were too vague and it was almost written as a setup. I bet not many will answer the survey and I don't blame them for not answering the questions after reading them.

Believe it or not, I DO dry my all the hull I can reach. Not so much to dry it but to keep it clean. I answered every question, and I hope many people take this opportunity to give their input. I do not understand why people fight TP&W so much. They are trying to do what has shown to work. I guess it will take California style regulations to get folks to get with the program.

Not really sure what program there is to "get with". None of our lakes in South Texas have any of the invasive species, survey could have had that as the first question and if you said "no", the end. Instead it's trying to make me look like I'm spreading stuff.

So did you answer the one question about drying "because that's how I am". What is that supposed to mean?

I answered every question as honestly as I could. I interpreted the answer to mean I take care of my equipment and the waters.

The program is TP&W's zebra mussel control program.

You can never completely dry your hull. The bunks stay wet for weeks!

I am as suspicious of TP&W doing a survey as I am when they start glad-handing for donations to fund the parks when the sporting goods tax we pay is supposed to go towards that. They are looking for a way to collect yet another fee.

As far as the zebra mussel program, they do more damage every time they do a flood water release than every boat on the Texas lakes combined. Many of us were born at night, just not last night.

Difference is that Donations directly to TP&W stay with TP&W. Earmarked Sporting Goods Tax Funds have fallen prey to your elected officials in Austin Town..

What part of floods only spread zebra mussels in a CONTAMINATED WATERSHED don't you understand. TP&W has never claimed that floods don't spread zebra mussels in a contaminated river system. But a flood on the Trinity DOES NOT spread them to the Guadalupe River. TP&W is trying to limit zebras to the river system already contaminated.

The only change I made when the Clean, Drain and Dry program started was to add a large sponge to soak up the water from the bilge that doesn't drain. All the other things I already did. It only takes a few minutes.

TP&W knows this is not a fix all, but it helps. I'm more than willing to take a few extra minutes to help.

As well as the water ports and nooks and crannies of an outboard motor.

I feel it coming as another tax on boaters to help pay for the control efforts.
All they are doing is building the case so when the tax comes to fruition, it won't be such a shock......Their excuse...."we did all we could do!"

Just one more cast!
