Anyone on here been to this canal? I see a boat launch on 2nd street in Hitchcock at a place called Waters Edge. If so, please let me know. I would like to PM someone and ask a few questions.
Thank you!

yes. i live in Bayou Vista and fish the diversionary canal a lot. it has some drains and shell bars that produce a lot, but my favorite area is the Basford Bayou area. just below the Harborwalk bridge is a intersection that leads to Basford Bayou and the bayou rejoins the canal at the mouth, where it goes into the bay. a lot of salt marsh there, also the canal itself has a drop off ridge running along both banks that is very fishy. the 2nd st launch is a good double launch ramp. go to google earth and look the place over.

I live right down the street from the ramp. It's a Free Public Ramp. From the Mouth of the DC to the ICW can be tricky bc it's not deep. Distance from the ramp to the mouth is a good 6+ miles.

There is an area north of the canal that looks like marshland. Brasford Bayou runs in and out of it. Is that marshland fishable with a regular boat?

I've seen people fish the mouth of it.I am not sure how deep it is in there. Skinny water boats or yaks might go up in it.
