I have a friend that fly-fished there all last week. He seemed to do pretty well on Rainbows.

I think he is talking about the Rebecca Creek Ramp # 11, but can't say for Sure. Its about 5 miles up river from the river mouth at Canyon Lake. Follow the river upriver on Google maps and you will see ramp 11 near Rebecca Creek and Schultz Creek.

Sry fellas, I've always known it as cyprus creek boat ramp, big ole dead cyprus trees standing where the creek meets the river. Boat ramp #11 is the legal name. Haven't been there myself nor has anyone I know since I lasted posted. But I can tell you from 20 experience fishin the Guad that they will be probably stacking at the mouth and start moving soon. Males are probably already moving, I have cuaght male white bass this early before up by the rapids. There are no certians this early. You never know unless you get out there and give it a try. Gonna try some new spots on other lakes this year. Just don't want to deal with the crowds. White bass dont only spawn up main river ya know

The Guad can be fickle....You can tear them up one day and won't be able to buy a bite the next. Lots of factors, and hot, cold, dry, wet and boat traffic are to name a few. Did I mention boat traffic? I fish the Nueces and down there you can use rope for fishing line, but if you get up the Guad you need to downsize and use the most invisible line you've got. If it rains and it's muddy, you don't need to worry and can throw anything because you won't catch anything anyway.

Been catching whites and striper on main lake still.. Saw a few caught by the spring by ramp 23, nothing worth fishing too hard for yet.. Main lake long sloping points have been good with birds working.. Striper on the surface and whites under them. Looking forward to learning these pre spawn and spawn patterns!

Anything new on whites above Canyon lake? I usually head for the Nueces but not this year. I understand it's been a nightmare down there.
