I'm surprised Doug didn't respond. It works like this

Guy's on the forum pair up and former 2man teams. Teams are randomly drawn to compete against each other. Lake may not be announced till the night before by text message. That way they are fishing blind.

They have a week to pick a day that's mutually acceptable. That's done before the lake drawing. Winner advances and loser is eliminated. It's done till one team is left

Or some version similar to ghis

Lakes in close proximity? I can't make a trip to Falcon. But would be interested for north and east Texas for sure!

Bob Smith may have a copy of the format/rules.
We had 6 teams I think. With 5 two man teams each.. Basically what Kelly said, other than we had two weeks to decide on what lake to fish, that was part of the game, try to lure the opposing team to a lake to your strength.
Can't remember how many matches, 4 or 5..The two teams with the most wins fished in a championship, all on the same lake on the same day, most weight combined won the championship.
Some of the qualifying matches could be 8 hrs, minimum of 4 hrs.
We fished all over the place, the teams had to agree on the lakes or there was a drawing of a lake they had to fish quickly.

It's like Pinks....winner keeps the boat.

There was some side bets on it. Bragging rights lasts a long, long time around here.

If you win it's an accomplishment. Some good sticks on here.

Back in the day. This Match Play was focused after time change and we had plenty of time after work to fish for 4 hours. We had a few T's go 8 hours during match play but not many. This allowed those with a busy tourney schedule to still compete as they could pick the day, time, and lake.
I would be in for this again and Bring Team 2 Tuff back to its correct spot # 1. Dang Team Sweet was just better at getting the lakes and times they wanted. LOL

Awesome Job back then Team Sweet

That is what I was thinking like Wed/Thur 4pm-6pm to 8pm-10pm. Then when it got down to "play offs" in the fall maybe 6 hours on Sat or Sundays. If the team members a particular week had the schedules they could even possibly fish a weekday match during the day. Keep it really informal and fun.

Perhaps the teams that are competing could pick the day and time they wanted to fish and even then agree on a lake.

Maybe figure out how many teams you have and all pick like 3 lakes per team, then the lakes are a blind draw out of a hat shortly before each match. Just more of an impromptu thing to make it more of a challenge.

I never fished them before, but it could be a blast, IMO.

I was trying to clean up some old file folders last night and ran across all this TFF Matchplay stuff that I had saved, all members & phone numbers, standings sheet, rules, etc....if anyone decides to pursue this, I can scan it and email to you so you'll have a good idea on format. Remember a Team Goon Squad? That's the only one that hasn't been mentioned.

I had a team back then and it was very difficult getting teams scheduled... That was the biggest challenge and not an easy one to over come.

It was some of the most fun I had back in the day fishing with Stan Browning. Got to meet so many great guys and gals and so many great memories like the last tournament of the year at Texoma one year going to eat with JVon and his misses before he passed away.

JP pulled the old match play disscusion sight up for me, I read over it for a couple of days.. It went back to 06, 30-40 pages worth...Times were different back then, one thing that hasn't changed is Red Ranger (Jack) he would talk trash every day. It was funny.. roflmao
Lots of great people involved, that's what got the ball rolling.. Stan Browning, Chad Kelner, Tom aka Okie Poke. Good folks right there..
