Garguy ,
Want to get your wife into fishing, bring along a lawn chair, bottle of wine and her favorite book and just enjoy her company. When she asks if she's scaring the fish by splashing her feet in the water, smile and say, "OF course not."

9. Success is a must. Most children have short attention spans, be sure to stack the odds in your favor.
Pick your quarry wisely. Unless you've got some major Mo-Jo going on, trying to get your kid started on black bass may not be the ticket.
The old saying, "kids don't want quality time, they want quantity" applies here as well. They're not looking for that great overall experience, they want to be able to brag about the fish they caught.
Do your homework before hand. If the sandies are running, great. Make a solo scouting trip and don't be shy. Talk with every and anyone willing to give you info on what's working for them.
If this isn't practical, find a local lake or pond with grass carp. The night before your outing, run by Kroger and pick up a 5lb bag of tatters and a can of whole kernel corn. Go out to the water and chop the tatters into quarter's. Find an area that suits your space requirements, preferably a cove, and chunk the tatters in and head to the house.
In the morning, bring the corn and kids with snoopy pole in hand. Rig a bobber setup about12" above a #8 or#10 hook and corn. Cast out into the field of tatters. Action should be fairly quick.
Ok, so these are not fish for the pan, just take plenty of pics and you'll have them coming back for more.
