Typically the original is much better than the sequel, but certainly not at this place!!! I was a bit leery that our second trip might be a bit of a let down, but the whole experience was even better. The food, the staff, the atmosphere, & the drinks are just fantastic!!! We went on another couples trip organized by Hanna Robbins, and met some very interesting people - especially Pete & Hanna Robbins.
Now, the fishing - Our first trip last October was pretty hard to beat, where Cheryl caught an 8.2 pounder, and I caught a 9.2 big fish. This time, we caught a lot of fish, too many 5 & 6 pounders to count, and ultimately Cheryl & I bested our PB's on the lake with a 9.2 for Cheryl & an even 10.0 pounder for me.

Wow. That's amazing! I'm almost afraid to go so that I don't spoil my everyday fishing. Then I think how cool it would be to catch an endless supply of 5+lb fish.

I know exactly what you mean tbates, LOL. I've been fortunate in my lifetime to fish the likes of Clear Lake, CA, the Sacramento River Delta, Castaic Lake & Casitas, CA and now Lake Fork is just 45 minutes away. And I've had some pretty good days on all those places. But, this place is just absolutely "Off the Hook". On any given cast & bite, you just don't know what you're gonna set the hook on, LOL. All the 5's & 6's are a BLAST, but the 10 pounder, well, I set the hook, and the guide Oscar says Big Fish, and it did feel pretty good at first, but when you get them close to the boat, the reality sets in, when it doubles your rod over, and I immediately loosened the drag just a little, and oh lord it will pull you outta the boat, LOL.
We are going back in May, along with Pete & Hanna again, and I'm told the the lake gets low due to water being pulled irrigation, and usually that is the kiss of death for the bite, but I spoke with a couple real regulars that go there several times a year, and they all said it just concentrates all the big fish on deep structure. We met one guy that has caught 6 - 13 pounders at that time of year.
I LOVE deep structure fishing, and I know there's a 13 pounder with my name on it in that lake.

The place is frickin' AMAZING!!!

GettING ready to head down to Sinoloa, Mexico here in a couple weeks to do some fishing. Would you mind sharing some of your best producing baits and techniques, as well as any patterns you found? I've fished salto, comedero, and baccarrac and they are spectacular lakes. Good job buddy.
