So, a couple months ago, my driver side power pole was down while sitting gin the garage. Upon investigation, the hydraulic line that controls the "up" action had popped free of the pump. I bought a new ferrule, reattached the line, filled the hydraulic fluid to the original level, and haven't had a problem since. Today, my passenger side pole was on the ground in the garage. SAME PROBLEM. So I fixed it just like the other one. My question is this. Is this something that just happens and every couple months I'm gonna have to fix it, or is this something that the original installer is at fault for, and by fixing the problem correctly I shouldn't have the problem any more? Would REALLY hate for one of those lines to pop off in the act of running down the lake.

Something not right. Might want to call powerpole. But I can tell ya mine have deployed at 70mph. They will be ok.

I'm done with power pole. Buying 2 new Talons soon. I have replaced a pump after it dumped hydro fluid inside by battery/bilgecompartment, huge mess. Got it all cleaned up installed new pump, bled the hydro lines, etc. Now, not even a year later one of the nipples is leaking fluid. I have to clean everything again and deal with, refilling/bleeding the lines. Not an issue with Talons.

Probably installer error. Never had that problem. If the ferrules are not place in the fitting correctly they will leak.

I have never had issues with poles sounds like install error.

I purchased the boat from Texas Marine in Conroe in August 2016, a 2010 Ranger boat 1 owner had 55 original hours on Motor so I can't imagine the rest of the boat having many more, the boat is immaculate, looks brand new everywhere, engine, seats, carpet, paint, bottom of boat etc, well maintained with full records of all repairs. The only problem was the leaking PP pump, Texas Marine installed the new pump for me under warranty, now it is leaking again. Maybe it is installer error, but why risk it happening again? If a talon fails it won't purge hydraulic fluid everywhere. Plus there are as many wires if not more than the Talon. I'm all about neat, tidy and efficient, especially in the battery compartment, this PP I have is none of that. Maybe I got a bad one? Don't know, but my buddy I have fished with for awhile has Talons and he has had zero issues with his going on 5 years. I just like the Talons better, plus I get an extra 2 feet anchoring depth with the 12 footers. To each his own. Chevy vs Ford, etc.
It will be for sale in a couple weeks for you PP fans.

Sea Aggie, I'm with those in the bad install camp. I just put one in my boat myself, and one of the install points that is highlighted from PP is to be sure to pull the compression nuts down covering all exposed threads. This ensures that the ferules provided are compressed completely, providing a leak free system. If you changed the ferules at the pump and pulled the nuts down according to PP instructions I'd be willing to bet you got it. By the way their tech support and warranty service is solid, good luck.

I am on my fourth set of poles, not one single problem, I take that back, one of my C monster control boards went out, Classic Fiberglass fixed it on the spot, no charge. I think it may have been an installation issue.

I don't know anything about the Talons except they are huge and really give off a cumbersome look. IMO. However, I have dealt with both Minnkota and Power Pole customer service and you will never come close to the kind of service with Minnkota as you get with Power Pole.

If its installed correctly, you will not have any problems with the lines.
