Do any of you target drum for bait? If so, what are some ways to catch them? What kind of water do you look for?

I catch Drum or Gaspergoo every time I go out, typically when I am fishing for white bass and hybrids. Always caught in deep water 30 ft to 43 ft, AWAYS caught on the bottom. Been catching them on Chartruese Lead slabs 5/8 to 3/4 oz. Caught 12 one day, in the midst of catching whites and hybrids. They appear to feed under the actively feeding W/H most likely waiting for shad to drop. We may catch 2-3 in a row. Very light bite, they put up a good fight. Good sizes, Released to fight another day. Belton is full of these things, very pretty fish. I understand some people eat them.

Excellent eating fish, especially those under 4 to 5 pounds. Firm white meat. Seems like it would be better served on a plate rather than bait.
