Was down about 6 months ago I think. Lake level about same as it is now. We traveled from 99 bridge to greyhound point (downriver) full speed no problems except a few bends that were too tight we had to slow down for the turn.

Up river looked about the same, but not sure how far it would hold out, we didn't travel that direction, but it is surely passable for a ways.

Why would you want to go upriver?

That's why I was wondering. Is it time for them?

In past years there seemed to be more flow, even though it was slow there seemed to be some moving water and why the whites would go way up river into the Tilden bridge area.
For some reason, and I don't think it's all about the drought because we've had enough rains the last few months that there should be some flow. (It's called progress, nuff said.)
It used to be that the whites you caught up the Frio and the San Miguel were huge compared to the average sized whites that the Nueces produced.
It wasn't unusual to catch whites up to 3# on Choke.
I haven't fished Choke since the low water levels a couple of years back, but it should be on the rebound. Maybe not if there is no flow.
Time flies Rio, and you are right, it was about 20 or so years ago! eeks

Just north of Tilden off hwy 16 you'll see the sign James E Daughtrey Wildlife Management Area.
There is a ramp there you can use, and if the water is too low to launch there you can take hwy 72 toward Three Rivers and turn off onto hwy 99 and launch there next to the bridge.
If you are after white bass I would personally launch at the Daughtrey ramp which is in the frio. If you can't launch there the Hwy 99 launch would be my second choice.

I don't think Daughtrey would be open at this level.

no daughtrey has been closed for a while. 99 is the only option.

Caught about 2 dozen trolling on Sunday. Most within 1/2 mile either way of the bridge. Trolled up to San Miguel. They're not that far up quite yet.
