Might not have an option. Already over next years cap. And kicking the can down the road does nothing but create dead cap space.

The June date is a minor detail that the owners have no difficulty working with
(see Bernie Kosar July 2, 1985 supplemental draft pick Cleveland Brown/Buffalo Bills ownership maneuvering)

I hope Tony can stay healthy and have success.

Joe Montana, considered by many the greatest quarterback of all time, was traded by the 49ers to the Chiefs for the long term future of the team (even though he had some good/great years left). Brett Favre also. Both trades were the best moves for the teams involved.

This is where Jerry can capitalize on his wild card personality and past. He (and through his son and head coach) can keep everyone guessing to bring more value to the potential trade and to the Cowboys.

They are only 6 million over and one of the very best at dead money right now.... It's not an issue they can't fix

If they were 13-3 with the QB play they had, what would it look like with "Rogers level" QB play?

These are the things being talked about inside the inner circle....Bet it!

As soon as the team starts listening to beat writers all is lost any way. Sounds like that writer should take up coaching if he is that confident. Past that there are plays left on the field in EVERY game no matter what team and QB is playing. Green Bay left plays on the field as well. Kinda easy to go back now and point them out and play the what if game. That what if game is kinda lame. What happened Sunday night was they got beat. One more play from the defense, one more play that last a few extra seconds etc and maybe the result would have been different. They played as a team and lost as a team.

Gonna be fun next year to see all the folks that will turn against this team or certain players etc. Fans are funny like that. About 2 months ago a LOT of Green Bay fans wanted McCarthy fired. Lots of beat writers too. You think they will write an article admitting they were wrong? Nahhh......

This team will be back and probably better off for the experience. They have a lot of talent that will only get better. Next year is gonna be fun.

If they do not act by June 1 regarding Romo's contract it almost doubles as to what they owe him this season.

That being said I bet Jones is pretty damn happy he has a rookie QB that just broke all rookie passing records in a playoff game. 3 TDs etc is a LOT to build on. Just saying. I am a big Romo fan but upside and longterm team needs have to be looked at as well. They have their QB of the future right now.

I agree with you but there were more than beat writers who said Dak left plays on the field, they did not say it to put him down, they just pointed out that a veteran quarterback would have seen those opportunities.

Romo will not be released IMHO. He will be traded or he'll be a Cowboy. This isn't like the Manning deal. Their cap hit for him was short term and only like $10M. I think the Cowboys will take a bigger hit than that if they release Romo. They'll find some place for him to go. I could see something like Romo for Osweiler and a 2nd round pick. Brock could be our backup next year and then we cut him for a small cap hit. Plus we get a 2nd round pick and get rid of a media and fan-driven QB controversy.

Find the interview video with Jerry just after the game...its pretty telling. Also find the comments from Garrett in regards to Romo on the Cowboys site. They speak of him in past tense and both praise Dak as the future. Jerry's are exceptionally direct etc. He said he saw what he needed to see in the 2nd half of that game and knows going forward that the rookies are the future and that the team is in good hands with them going into next season. He said he saw everything he wanted to see in regards to how they led this team back into the game and that was basically the last question he had. He said they rose to that challenge and will be the reason the team is better next year under them.

Jerry admitted earlier this year he says stuff on purpose to get the media talking and to keep the hype going. Who knows. We will see soon.
