I got a bushido rod made by jawbreaker customs I got a shimano tiagra 15 with 100# braid. I'm using this to cast a halco popper and shimano flatfall jig at some bluefin tuna in the gulf of mexico. Like in a Eddie ... Tidal vortex suspending baitfish along a migratory trail marked by some marine biologists Bluefin might be on the lump in march... Fish migration is been getting weird and unexpected

Good luck. Read up carefully on bluefin tuna regulations (they're Byzantine!!)

Good luck. It looks like you're rigged for a monster. Most of the tuna in the Gulf can be had with 60 pound braid with 60 or 80 pound leader.
You will get wore out with that rig but if the goal is over 300 pounds that will handle it.

So how much did you spend on that setup really? Tuna are great fish to eat and can sell for lots of money. Hope you recoup the money with the tuna!

Mark, if you decide to try a spinning reel you can get a quality reel for over a grand or a hundred. The Fin Nor Lethal 100 is a little over a hundred dollars and has good write ups by Alan Tani and Alan Hawk. Good size for tuna and very capable.

I second that -- my LT100 caught 6 fish in 80+lb class and shows no sign of problem.

No spinning reels allowed I can crank down on them suckers with a good old fashioned winch type set up. I took the rod to the lake the other day and was casting it I'm casting the rooster popper 160 and I can get it out there maybe 150 feet which is great since it's not that heavy I'm still casting it good I need a lot of practice I'm learning this style with the pendulum cast but I have another update I was arguing with somebody about bluefin tuna in the Gulf of Mexico and they said what's the record and I looked it up and I found the record

Yeah, I remember seeing the news story when that one was caught. It was an all-day fight.

I bought the reel used for $400 the rod cost $350 so I got a good deal the set up retails for about $1500. I'm hoping to make a bad ash video out there 100 miles out in my little boat. I need a dedicated camera man I'm thinking about hiring a professional camera man but I think it's a long shot regardless I think this year we are gonna get 20k subscribers maybe make a viral video..... we shall see. This Could be my star wars light Saber and the boat is like one of those jets they be flying and the oil rig out there? Well that's the mofo death star.

This rod is a little squirrely i took it out and broke off 3 jigs i think the stiffness of the rod combined with the low sensetivity of the drag has caused me to lose fish.
