Fished the Sabinal River and picked up a quick limit of Rainbow Trout. Fish were caught using a gold Super Duper Lure. The bite was steady. The next day the fish made it to the dinner table with Tony Chachere. The fish were dipped in regular yellow mustard and then dipped in a pile of Tony Chachere's fish fry. Catching and eating fresh Rainbow Trout. It just don't get any better!

Nice catch, Chuck! Talk about living the life . Work has been crazy busy since the last time we fished together, and it's not looking like I'll be able to get a line wet until the end of the month, if I'm lucky. I've been waiting for you to post so I could fish vicariously through you!

Where may a fisherman buy or order the super duper lure?

To answer my own question, I understand that BPS is my source for the super duper lure. Good excuse to go to BPS tomorrow.

Thanks Allen,chrisc/striper express guide service,ifishibj,and Clayton for the replies. Ifishibj: I usually get my Super Dupers at Acadamey. The one store I go to has been sold out of them for about two months. I stock up on them during the early summer way before the stocking season begins. I heard Bass Pro carries them but I do not know that personally. You can also order them on line.

I bought Super Dupers at BPS Round Rock today. They had 1/10 and 1/16 ounce sizes. Had to buy both. Now, my spot on the San Gabriel is up and muddy. Rain should be over for a few days. I will try the SD's in the Yampa River in June as well as on the San Gabriel when she settles down. Thanks for responding, BAF.

As always great trout post! Looks like the season trout stockings are coming to an end. Going to try the Guadalupe this week. Have you hit the Crappie trail? Love those fried Crappie.

Thanks Curtis! I have fished several spots for Crappie this winter and have not done that well. This warmer weather has em in different places. Ben catching plenty of nice Bluegill.

Crappie have changed their movements for sure! When you find them the bite is on. Spawn will be coming very soon.

Where on the Sabinal does one fish, Utopia Park? I have driven by there on the Harley.

Utopia park is one spot. Also Lost Maples State Park is another! There are also a couple of crossings between Utopia and and Lost Maples that have a little public access. There is also the crossing at the HY 90 bridge just outside Sabinal. Great scenery in that area. Make sure you stop at the Lost Maples Cafe in Utopia. Pretty good food!
