Have any of you that own Tritons have a gas smell in your compartments. If so do you know what causes it and can it be fixed?

It seems to be a common problem where the gas tank is located under the seats. I've heard that a few other boat manufactures have run into similar problems. There are a couple of vents beneath the seat that serve as a drain and also vents. These vents are not enough to vent the fumes from the tank properly. The fumes can flow into the rod locker compartment because there is nothing blocking the space between the rod locker and the space where gas tank is located. There is a fix that is posted on another forum. It will take some time and effort. I did the fix and it seemed to help. One thing I did was spray the sealer foam all the way up in the gunnel. Another words, I completely blocked off any space between the rod lockers and gas tank area.

Here is a link to the fix. Just click on "Gas Smell in Rod Locker Fix" http://bbcboards.zeroforum.com/zeroforum?id=48

Do you notice the fumes when your tanks are not totally full?

Well known problem, poor ventilation. I keep rod compartments and battery compartment propped open when not in use.

If I am getting that much fumes, I am looking for a leak, if it were mine. You can add red die to the fuel to help find the leak.
