I have always thought TP&W did a good job.

Well...up to a point. They do some great work, but got their not so clean fingers in some pies they got no business in.

Our state park system and public fisheries are well managed and a great asset to all Texans, but there is some stuff behind the scenes that ain't so purty and a lot of money spent on PR work to make them look good rather than spent on being good.

But, we could be in Illinois.....in both states, politics and biology make for strange bedfellows.

They really, really, really need to learn the difference between "control" and "eradicate".

I think they do a decent job of this. I think anglers have to look at both sides of the argument, especially on Conroe and can see how hydrilla quickly becomes a nuisance to home owners. Heck If I had a dock and I was dropping my boat into thick matted grass, I prolly would not be happy.

They seem to leave some lakes alone, but now the problem is Salvania, no way to kill this without killing other aquactic vegetation.

Only up to a point. My beef with them is that they quit stocking Conroe with crappie. They killed off all veg several years back with spraying for really big salvinia, then the drought in 2011 when spawning areas were beach sand it hurt this pond big time on them tasty little lake snappers.

Illinois is almost broke and they can thank the corrupt Chicago politicians for a lot of that. Rahm Emanuel was just on Fox News claiming Trump doesn't address the right issues ocncerning crime and budget. Rahm's done such a wonderful job in that area.

They were terrible back in the 1980's. I lived near Clinton Lake from 1983 till 1991 except for a couple of 22 month assignments. Clinton is a 5000 acre hot water lake used as the ultimate heat sink for the Nuke. When they built the lake in the late 70's they stocked Large Mouth, Small Mouth, Walleye, Hybrid Stripers, and Tiger Muskie, along with Crappie and Blue Gill, all competing for the same forage fish. The first couple of years it was a great fishery. By 1987 the lake was so bad a regional tournament trail had to give 100 entries their money back because no one caught a keeper Bass.
