Thanks for posting.

I've yet to go to Somerville nor Yegua.
Praying I can finally take my kayak and head there this Sunday.

I grew up fishing lake somerville and the yegua, but over the past years have Mosttly saltwater fished, but would like to catch some crappie, my kayak is pretty slow and I'm a little nervous with the length of time it will take me to get to and up the yegua to fishy waters, any suggestions ?

welcome

I have a slow kayak too. Nails has been just as good or maybe even better for Crappie. It's a little bit easier paddle.

Nails Creek might be a better choice as it is about two miles up the creek to some really good fishing. Most often the crappie are holding somewhere in the mile or so below the trailway bridge and above the flag pond cut. Blackbass will be more spread out over the entire creek but as you get further upstream the water clarity improves dramatically! Also something good to know is it doesn't take much rain to muddy the whole creek.

Thanks J-Moe for the welcome and advice and also thanks Hook-line&Sinker for the advice, moved from Houston to Austin and can't wait to fish when time allows to get to the gulf so very happy to possibly get into some local fishing opportunities.

Thought it was bigger by the way it towed the yak around the creek pool but photos don't lie.. about 21 inches long and in the 5.5lb class..

No it was Tuesday! (If you are talking about the Yegua @ Irwin bridge and at Nails creek @ CR125)

From what I hear it appears the first wave of whitebass have moved back down the creek & the fishing in general has slowed down considerably. The next good rain event should bring with it another week or so of good fishing in the creeks at Somerville.

About four miles of Birch creek traveled by kayak and another three miles on foot at Cedar Tuesday.
