Just got the new g2n helix unit. Took it out for the first time yesterday. I have never had si before but have watched many videos on it and had a 597 ci hd di unit before this one.
Does it seem like the down imagining took over on the right side of the side imaging screen in first pic?
Second pic, why does the down imagining seem to have those dark type spot in it?
Third pic. How come it seems so dark and I can't see the bottom line very well? The si seemed to show up and work very well in 25 fow or less. Thanks for any help! [img:left]http://[/img]

The first 2 pics may be some bugs in the system. The 3rd pic looks like might you might need to try increase the sensitivity. With Side imaging the sensitivity needs to be adjusted to different depths. I would be contacting Humminbird C/S about those first two pics.

Those issues seems to be with combo views involving the DI. Did that first pic start that issue as soon as you switched to that screen?

Thx diesel. I was wondering about the depth issue and if I needed to mess with the sharpness contrast and sensitivity everytime I was switching major depths, or if one basic setting on all of those features would make the unit look crisp.

Just start with the sensitivity settings till you get it dialed in then you can play with the contrast sharpness. The factory setting are usually pretty a good start with the sharpness and contrast.

To answer your question for above, yes I do believe the issue arises when switching in combo screens. I don't think they appeared when the full screen was just down side or 2d sonar views. I could be wrong but I think issues only came up with combo screen views. I will pay more attention the next time I can get out....

You are most likely correct. You also are not the only one with this issue with the mega units and combo screens.

I was thinking about upgrading my 1199 to one of the Megas, but the more I read, I think I'll sit on it for a while and let the issues get fixed.

Ditto what Bob Landry says. Im thinking of upgrading my 899HDSI NAV & 999SI. But, I'll wait till bugs are worked out.

Got out on the water today and had really good success with the helix! Pictured time!

Here is the di taking over the right si when in a combo view while the sharpness is turned on...

Here you can see the issue being fixed by Turing off the sharpness

Here are two pics of how I have my transducer installed. I have it on the bottom step and then put the bracket on upside down so that the transducer will not be below the bottom of the boat in fear of a stump hitting it at high speeds....

Unfortunately I turned the imagining on MAX mode for the rest of the trip thinking I just put the switchfire 2d sonar in max mode. Apperantly you can put the si,di, in max mode as well as your 2d sonar. So most of the remaining pics could be much better and not as "hot" if I had kept it in clear mode.....and it puts a dirty water haze so to say in the water Coloum of many of the following pics....

Here I am leaving the cove of the burnt bride area and just approaching the rip rap rocks between the skinny little inlet, before you can see all the shad!

One fish zoomed in and you can see other on the left and right and the huge bait of shad keeping clear of them!

Heading under 30 on the rockwall side, wayyyyyy to hot due to max mode being on, wish I could have got a shot of that with it on clear mode

thumb.....looks like the workaround for the combo screens works good. I am not too sure how well that switchfire for si/di is gonna work. It was part of the last software release for the Gen 1 Helix units. Looks more trolling motor interference when turned on max mode. Thanks for the pics and update

What does the encrypt sd card option mean on the unit? I wanted to take some screen shots using a blank sd card that I had in there......need to read up on how to do that some more.....

should be able to just put the sd card in and turn the "snapshot" screen view to visible. The unit will not read any card larger than 32gb
