Rob and I were supposed to fish Thursday (near perfect day to fish) but something came up and had to move it to Friday. Colder than predicted, less wind than predicted (thanks for that) about right prediction for scattered intermittent light rain. My expectations were low given the conditions. Launched 9:00am at Lofers, went around the corner towards Towash. Checked a couple of humps we had marked but no fish. Decided to head over towards the West end of State Park. On our way there eagle eye Rob spotted birds working. Eased into the area and immediately started catching fish. 95% sand bass good mix of bigs and littles. We sat on that spot for at least 2 hours and continued to catch fish. It finally played out. Went looking mid lake for more birds - none were found. Fished at a couple of spots - nothing. Went back to the first spot and they were back. Finished the day with 231 on the clicker. Rob caught many doubles this trip. Only one keeper striper (19.5"). Only one pic as the moisture was detrimental to my phone. If you draw a line from Harbor Master to West end of State park we were about half way in between on one of two humps close together. We were very lucky to have found so many fish in one area. Did not catch any females loaded with eggs. Water temp was 52deg, fish were at 35fow. All fish released.

They felt warmer than the air, but if you reeled them up too fast their swim bladder would come out their mouth. I have never seen this before in fresh water and only 35fow. They seemed to be ok when released.

Nice! You'll see that often reeling in red snappers from the deep deep. Then dolphins await for the release to feast on em...lol. very cool thing to see.

We caught them on a small minnow shaped slab from Academy, Jig-N-Slab. Drop to the bottom, slowly lift up, wiggle, repeat. Thumping is critical to keep them coming. I tested my windshield wiper motor thumper for the first time and it performed as designed but it seemed that the rate was not optimal. My battery powered thumper only had two speeds, hi and low. I plan on adding a motor control circuit so I can vary the rate and do more testing.
