Mr. Jim and I put it on them today with cut drum in 31'FOW.
We started drifting with baits just hanging under the boat and then later drifted with floats above the hook and traditional leaders and finally pulled drifting rigs with the i pilot.
The first fish that kicked it off was a great a 42" long and 28" around big blue.
Fish of the day!
It slammed down old reliable and gave Jim hell on the little limber 6' glass rod and an old 5000.
He said several times, "This is a big ole fish" while fighting it.
He was right too, it was quite impressive.
The scale is broke so we had to measure everything today.
Next a 29" blue gives us another good fight.
Next is a 36" blue( that we noticed was out swimming the boat as we pulled with the i pilot at .4mph, I grabbed the rod and reeled down to it and it was already past the boat). A 35" came right on it's heels. I had not even unhooked the 39" yet. Jim noted that he could hold the 35" with one hand, but the 42" took both!
Then we caught a 28" and then a 29".
We kept five box fish beside the six CPRs that were about 10 to 12 pounds.
Making for a total of 12 very nice blue cats today.
