I am headed down to fish with Captain Kevin Broussard south of Lake Charles for some reds and trout this weekend.

Would like to bring my own rods/reels - based on fishing for keeper reds and trout what weight rod would you suggest and what line should I spool up...if I should have more than one rig what should I have?

Thanks for any help or direction...looking forward to fun on the water!

If you are using artys I would bring a CB rig 7 to 7 6 med I use 15 Power Pro with 20 lb flour leader. For bait fishing I use 7 ft spinning rod med same line, you need to be able to cast bait with very small weight or no weight.

30 lb braid and 20 lb floro leader. Best set up there is. 150 yard of braid and 2'-4' length of floro to feel the bites and stretch a bit as well as hiding the line from the fish sight.
I catch 1 lb trout to 45 lb bull reds!
