Not sure if Conroe is a good sight fishing lake, but if it is then that opens it up to several anglers that have a keen sense of finding, seeing and being able to catch bed fish.

It used to be a phenomenal sight fishing lake before they dumped in the grass carp

I'd imagine with all the spectator boats, very little sight Fishing will occur. I have a feeling it's going to be a mad house.

Oh man, can you imagine what it's going to be like if the weather is nice and warm. Interesting to say the least

Conroe can be a great sight fishing lake. I bet I saw 1000 fish last spring in the shallows. Granted, 995 of them were carp. That being said, there are some areas north of 1097 and that have all the potential for sight fishing if there are no significant showers.

I'm pulling for Swindle, I think it will take some junk fishing to catch them 3 days in a row with all of the pressure.

I am gonna go a little bit out on a limb and say Randy Howell and Takahiro will have something to say about who takes home the trophy this year. Takahiro can catch em just about any way possible and Randy has shown in the past 2 or 3 classics, that he will be in contention on the final day. As for who we are rooting for, I would love to see Swindle finally get one just to see his reaction.

I think this years tournament is going to go to the man who knows how to finesse fish high pressured lakes. My votes are:

Ryan Lavigne- Kind of hard not to vore for the man who destroyed everyone at the Nations National Championship on Conroe in Nov. of last year.

Also- Steve Kennedy is a man who has done well on structure lakes like the west coast lakes.

John K Fontenot

I bet this is the last tournament they ever have on conroe. The boat traffic and disrespectful spectators will push them away. Just my opinion

Having fished there since the 80's and watching what goes on year to year I think its going to primarily won inside of 6-8 feet that time of year. Right near the full moon. If it was right now offshore would do it. By late March the spawn is more the 65% over and most of that primary action will be in the south lake. Sight fishing will play a roll on day 1. They will have a few big ones located. Low boat number on day 1 would be good. I would be surprised if they don't catch a few over 8 the first day sight fishing. Fish will be in spawn, post spawn and post spawn funk. There could be a Shad spawn bite on early but that's usually really kicking off better a couple of weeks later. It's been fleeting the last couple of years. If it's there had someone times the right spot the could catch some good ones off it. Fish are spread out that time of year. Typically one or two of the creeks has a better concentration. It's going to fish smaller day to day. They will have everything found. Most have been there quite a bit. Some have practiced a lot. Some have road with locals that have a lot of experience. I think it comes down to day 3. That should be a grind. The lake will be beat to death by then. Also they have to catch the 16" limit not the 14" the TTBC had. There are a lot of 15.5" fish in the lake.

Tak is a good pick. The way he fished the lake in the Oct TTBC also works in late March. I would think Combs will have to catch them a different way than he did in Oct but he has a lot of lake knowledge. Christie should be up there. Ike is a wild card. He has caught them in the past on very different ways. He might hit something this time but I think he is due to slip.

To me the five to watch are:
Lucas, Lefebre, Tak, Christie, Ehler.

Can't believe I didn't take....Hackney, Herron, Jones, Martens, Powroznik.

I'm with you 100%. If it weren't for the $$$$$$ Bass wouldn't be there in the first place. Everything is about money and I understand that but the anglers should be #1 in any considerations of tournament sites. If it had been at Rayburn, TB, Grand Lake, Bull Shoals, etc. I would be going. Not going to Conroe under any circumstances.

stir

I'm sure BASS and the crowds will be disappointed you won't be there. In the next 8 weeks you should really try to think of a few more negative spins you can throw at the lake choice for this year's Classic.
