Ok, so please understand i dont know the proper lingo, or terms but here we go:

Just got a 14" Mirror craft V bottom, and it came with a 64 9.5hp Evrude Sportwin?
First thing i did was take it out on lake calaveras. When i took the engine to full throttle, my boat Bow went noticeably higher, to a point i cant really see over it. When i slowed her down, the bow lowered. Idk if all of this was because rhe winds and water were rough, causing choppy water (found out i get sea sick yay). After much research i found the boat is not reaching the plane.i also think that all the weight on the stern? May also be a contributing factor. I want to make it into a poormans bass boat. I will post pics of the boat and motor shortly. Any advice?

There i was, up to my knees in hand grenade pins and titties. Was i scared? Yah, scared they get away!

I don't think that's enough motor to get you on plane.

That motor will get you to your fishing hole, but that's about it. You'll need atleast 25 hp to keep plane and cruise. Check out tinboats.net that's a wealth of old tin boat knowledge. Lots of different aluminum boat builds quite a few mirror craft builds that might help you out and the guys are super friendly.

Little bitty motor will need some help to actually plane your hull.
One aspirin at a time...
1. Remove the trim rod so the motor can tuck down fully.
2. If that doesn't quite do it, get a transom wedge to give you some more negative trim.
3. If THAT still doesn't do it, get a set of step n trims and install, play with the angles until it runs the way you want it to.

I've got a 14' mod-vee jon boat. It has a 5hp Tohatsu. I was worried there would be too much weight on the back with the motor, TM, gas tank and mu butt(230lbs). I put my battery midships and my spare tire in the bow to help with some weight. I was surprised at two things( new motor and setup).....the 5hp pushed me along pretty good and my bow stayed down.
Have you put any weight in the bow?

Ok, I will google what your recommendation mean, as i dont know all the lingo. I also got an idea of installing a SE Sport 200 hydrofoil on the motor to improve performance.

As to weight management, im going to put the battery up front, and also put a sandbag or 2 under the front bench. I also want to put the gas tank about midship, but need to get a longer fuel line setup first.

Lasty, i want to look into installing/upgrading the electrical setup into something more then wires to the battery. Its very basic right now.

I'll get down to noob basics.
Trim rod is the rod that the motor rests on when it's running. You'll see several holes to change the motor angle. Take it completely out.
Transom wedge will change the angle of the motor, to plane out faster you want more tuck in or negative angle, so it pushes your nose down faster.
Trim tabs are like flaps on a plane, then also push the nose down faster.

Do one at a time, you'll find the right answer. I'm never a fan of whale tails, they are the last act of desperation.

Oh ok, ive looks at trim tabs, but idk which one i would want, im thinking self leveling(i think there called), because i have control panel or electrical system to use the fance trim setups.

Whale tail is the hydrofoil? Haha never heard that before.
Thanks for advice

If you went to calaveras then you must be in the SA area. I live on Medina Lake and if you like I can help you get it running for you. Just bring her over to Medina lake if you want and we can give her a run. You can PM me if you are interested.

Current Cylinder Index is 42.

I'm not talking at all about powered tabs. Step n Trims are fixed in place, set them and leave them, much less expensive than powered tabs. Hopefully you won't need to dive that deep to get running.

2 50lb sand bags up font should help(wrap sand bags with duct tape to prevent rips). $6.50 fix. just remember to take them out if someone else is going fishing with you .

Addressing the problem is a better way to go rather than throw some bulky bags in the bow that he is going to have to crawl over to get to the front.

What year is the boat? Need to check the hp rating. Weight distribution is key.
