Phenix Vibrator Jig Version 3 I think Phenix makes the best one. I've been a fan of Z-Man for a long time, ever since they bought Rad Lures. However, since I've been using Phenix a lot, I'm liking them WAY better. The main thing I like better is the high quality components: good snap, good hook, good skirt, etc.. One of the reasons the Z-Man is so effective is because of the incredible vibration the blade puts out. The blade on the Phenix performs the exact same way. It's a Z-Man on steroids.

I really like these myself, however there was a small bait company here in Texas called Nasty Habit baits that I like above all other. He unfortunately stopped making them. I'm down to just a couple left and will pull out scuba gear to retrieve them in I have too.

I'm surprised that ZMan quit going after all the companies making these... that's part of having a patent, you are required to enforce it....And they were hot and heavy after anybody that made anything even resembling a chatter bait for the first couple years after they got the patent. Lots of cease-and-desist letters were sent out. Someone please correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe the unique characteristic of the Z man chatter bait is that the blade will impact the head giving it a different sound. I use some garage made vibrating jigs that a very good friend makes for me. They are a little different from the other stuff out there.... action, color, quality components, and overall design are above and beyond any vibrating jig I have purchased in a store. At some point they may become available to the public on a limited basis, but I'm very happy that nobody else can get their hands on them right now.

Direct connection to blade and head contact are the keys to the patent. With that said, Karu Lures VibraShock is a good one also.

I switched to the chatterbait elites and haven't looked back. They have all the characteristics and improvements everyone else is trying to make.

Original Phoenix vibrator jig attached to eye before Z-man lawsuits. These are my favorite, the hooks weren't great but the action gets me more bites than the models with a split ring.

I appreciate all the comments guys. Last year was a pretty special year for our Thumper. It ended up in In-Fisherman magazine without me doing anything to publicize it to the author of the article. The folks at Mystery Tackle Box also decided it was a good enough bladed jig to distribute it to thousands of their top customers (MTB Pro Box) and Justin Rackley did a video on it. There's several videos out there now, and I can guarantee you that I didn't pay anyone to make them. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YuUcwEZ_MRMIt's a good bait that seems to be catching on with more fishermen, and I think Justin said it pretty spot-on: it has really good components throughout the product, including the most important part... the Gamakatsu hook. I'm bringing two new colors out this year, Bluegill and Natural Shad, which brings the total to somewhere around 20. That's a lot of color options, and I haven't discontinued any of them over the last few years because they all work at some point or another throughout the year or at some lake they work for some guy and I hope others around that lake will catch on.
Online Orders: www.finchnastybaitco.comE-mail Orders: finchnastybaitco@gmail.com Finch Nasty Bait Co. is now an Authorized Retailer of Keitech Fat Swing Impact swimbaits! We offer select sizes and colors that match our line of Thumpers (bladed swim jigs) and universal swim jigs.
