Buying 4 new batteries for my boat. I am buying 3 of the Deka 8A31DTM which have 190 reserve capacity and 800 cranking amps.
My confusion lies in the starting battery. Should I buy one of these Deka for my starter battery too and be done with it or try to find something with a higher Reserve Capacity since I will be running 2 large graphs and the live well off it?
What battery setups/combinations are you guys running or what would you run if budget is not an issue? I want to do this 1 time and be done for awhile.
Its going in my 2010 Ranger Z520 with a Minn Kota 101 lb thrust 36v trolling, 2 Helix 12 Chirp Graphs.

I think one of the Deka's should be fine, (or any other battery with 100 amp hours and high enough cranking amps) that's a pretty big battery even if you're running the big graphs and live well. They won't draw enough to be a problem. Good idea getting a dual purpose battery though, my boat when I bought it came with a starting battery that only had 675 cranking amps, and not much in the way of amp hours. Even though live wells and graphs don't burn that much power, I always thought they were gonna run my little starting battery out of juice and not crank my 175. That battery got tossed quick for something similar to what you're looking at. 105 amp hours and 800 cca, no problem!!

Thanks for the input T Racer, I agree 100%. After several hours of online researching I went with four new Deka batteries. Got a pretty good deal through a buddy, just curious what others were using. It was between the Deka and Trojan. $1000 is a lot to spend on batteries, just looking for as much input as possible. I understand the lack of responses, seems this topic has been beat up on the forum. But if you read most Battery threads there is no definitive choice or answer. So anyone reading this looking for batteries I chose the Deka Intimidator 8A31DTM sealed maintenance free, it has 190 reserve capacity, 800 cca. I did a ton of research.

where did you find these Deka batteries? I too am looking for something with high CCA, but with deep cycle characteristics to run my graphs and livewell pump.

I bought them at Emory Auto Supply, 903-473-2913. The owner is a bass fisher and stocks them.
Sells a little cheaper than retail too. I live in Dallas but worth the drive.
