Hey y'all,
I just recently moved up here to MA from TX and I'm wondering if I should stow away my batteries for the winter? I have an old 1998 384V Ranger w a 1998 150 Johnson. I already winterized it and everything.
Thanks

I'm not 100% sure if you're supposed to but if it were me, I would take 'em out. At the very least, it can't hurt things.

If you do take them out DON'T set them on a concrete floor. If your floor is concrete put down a block of wood to set them on.

This is no longer true. Not with the construction of battery cases. It will not cause a effect on the battery from holding a charge.

I used to work at interstate battery. This myth was put to rest YEARS ago!

Still better safe than sorry. A scrap piece of wood is cheap insurance.

no need for it so why bother. If it is convenient I would just leave them in the boat and fully charge at 2 amps once a month.

It's to keep from scuffing the bottom of the battery or possibly even crack the concrete.

Never putting a battery on concrete was a lesson learned from my dad several decades ago. I know that is no longer an issue, yet I cannot help myself. To this day I will always set a battery on something other than concrete, even though it is no longer necessary.

If you have a good on board charger with a maintainer just leave them plugged in

No reason to take them out. Just leave them on the charger.

Take them out and put them in the house? It was 20 degrees in my garage Saturday morning. I use my boat in the winter and have never taken my batteries out. I just keep them charged.
