Hello,

I am new here, but have been reading peoples post for the last few months. I am an avid fly fisherman from Oregon and coming back to Ft.Hood from overseas for a few months before I head back home for good. I was seeing if anybody had any good fly fishing areas near Ft. Hood? I used to fly fish Lampasas area and some of the ponds on base, but I am thinking about traveling further out. I feel like I need to get back up to snuff after not fly fishing for almost a year. I am also up to having a fly fishing buddy in Central Texas. Not one person in my unit fly fishes so I am by myself on all my fly fishing adventures in Texas. I have all my gear ready to go in Oregon and about to be sent to Texas here very soon.. Only thing I need to get is a new float tube.

I'm in the Killeen area, retired from active duty a year ago. Long story short I to am from Or. little town outside of Eugene. Have fly fished all over the world n the 27 years. Volunteer with project healing waters when work allows. I work 3rd shift 6 days on 3 days off. Most of my fishing is ultra light with my 3 wt. and Tenkara rod. Prefer creeks to ponds and lakes and fish Sulphur Creek in Lampasas, Nolan Creek in Belton and Killeen often. And have my eye on Salado Creek in Salado. My 3 days this week are already shot, but PM me if you want to try and set something up.

Hooking a fish is like playing string with a cat. The exact size, shape, color of string matters less than how you wiggle it- and little cats are easier to fool than big ones. John Gierach

Let me know if you want to get out of a tube and on a skiff later this spring - here in North Texas.
