I just got back from the Stars game, and the wind blowing on us fully clothed was freakin' cold while waiting for the train!
The water will be something else I'm sure...in fact, I already know.
Mr. lakeforkfisherman, video 1 was very amusing. Video 2 was a success! Great job. I'll try to beat that time of :04 seconds, but who knows! Once I'm in, I'll do my best...

I hope nobody was watching you. They will be calling the mental hospital staff, carrying restraints, to come get you. First thing they will fit you with a padded helmet!
Good try, anyways, but I never seen a swimming stroke haha....

I am still laughing. It's actually quite amazing how your body reacts to the cold shock.

Duck hunting for many years, I know! Took many a spills!
That's why people drown when they fall out of a boat in winter (gulp)....not to mention swimming with layers of clothes on.

I'd surmise 54, 44 or 34, it's all going to feel like needles when I/you/whoever takes the challenge, getting in the water.
Kim is looking forward to seeing this!

I am done, but I need to load and edit the video. The photo is of me in the back just before I stepped in, and I swam up to Kim. I'd say the water was close to 45 degrees thereabouts, and it was harder than I thought it would be. I've sat in ice baths, fully submerged, and I could stay 10-15 minutes. This was roughly 5 years ago, but this hurt more, and I was swimming, and full of food. I lasted about 17 seconds swimming from one end to the other, then I stepped out. Wow, it was cold! I think I may do it again in a couple days to beat my own time. As I said, I'll get the video up later today or tomorrow. * Who is up next? * ...------

Here's a brief, quick snippet, all of about 15-17 seconds submerged. I had just eaten a big, big meal, I was so full, and the water was pretty dang cold. The temp outside was mid 30s, water about 42, and I know neither is super cold, but it hurt overall. We are talking about "Texas" cold, not "Minnesota" cold after all. I've sat in cold-ice baths before, but I let myself acclimate, and I could stay in for 10-15 minutes, but that was motionless. I figured moving/swimming would help, but I was wrong. I swam immediately, and the ice water hurt my muscles, actually felt like I was burning, and I started losing breath and felt it in my chest at about 10 seconds. Once out of the pool, I still hurt/burned for at least 30 minutes. Swimming, this time, hurt more, but I will try it again, and beat that measly time of 17 seconds. Dang I felt and looked bad, which is all the motivation I need to do better. I'm in decent shape now, but 2 weeks from now will be much better. Even 1 week will help! Who is next????????????? ...no wisdom
