Im not going to name names and I entered 2 different ones today, memberships, tourneys etc. both made me want to slam my head against the wall. way too many questions, required fields etc. and when I didnt hit accept terms and condition on one of them it erased all info and I had to start over. Both were a beating in their own special way.

It's definitely a balancing act between the information we need, rules acknowledgments, second angler info, etc. For us we realize that our event isn't a series or trail, so we treat our cart transactions like a true retail cart and try to keep the key information and fields to a minimum so that people don't abandon the cart and we lose them.
However, most organizations probably believe that if you're committed to fishing with them, then you're going to fight through whatever is necessary to get your data completed and entries in related to memberships etc.
The reality for us though is that 70+ % of our entries come online and 80+ % of those are on mobile, so we made the switch to a mobile responsive site and our own internal cart two years ago and it's made all the difference in the world. You can enter our events and be done in less than 3 min if you know what you're doing.
I am blown away in our space how many endemic companies and brands still don't have mobile responsive sites and provide such a bad user experience. Not just tournament organizations.

Entering tourneys and Google earth are the only reason I ever use my laptop. Trying to enter on iPad or phone is a disaster.
