I was thinking about hitting some creeks from the bank so if I get COLD I can get back into the truck and warm up.

If it was easy, everyone would do it

If I wasn't working, I would be at the creeks also.

I would brave it today, i'm sure i'll be bored most of the day. Question though, i'm very inexperienced with creek fishing, but I only live about 8 minutes away from the Lewisville Elm Fork feeder creek. Would it be worth my time today? What should I target, the deepest looking areas and structure?

I'll be after them in a bit.

Huntfish, that's what I do. I fish the deepest spots of the creek top and bottom. They'll usually be there right now.

Thanks. I guess it just seems strange to me, since it's so cold it seems like a waste. But if ya'll say they hitting in the creeks then by god I will try the creeks! Throwing on the cold weather hunting gear and hand warmers today though. Some snow flurries up here when I woke up this morning.

The Elm Fork between RR and LL is tough this year. You can literally walk across the river on log jams in several places and they are making the fish spread out more. If I had to fish that river, I would try in the log jams and hope that I get lucky. The colder it gets the better the creeks produce.

I may also be on Lewisville but targeting blues. It all depends on if my new Tim Wade deep water cast net comes in. I do have a question about the creeks though as I stay on the crappie pretty well spring through fall. When your in the creeks are you using a slip bobber and jig casting to structure? Also what creeks produce well on Lewisville. I launch from little elm and went up some arms north but didn't really find creeks I felt would produce but this is also my first year chasing up creek arms. I am accustomed to shooting/jigging docks in winter but Lewisville really lacks homeowner docks like I'm used to hitting up north.

It's cold as all get out but tonight I'm loading the yak up staging cold weather gear and hitting the creeks in the am. I'm itching for some fishing!

All the creeks have fish in them. They are not as thick as they were a few weeks back and doesn't seem like as much bait in the creeks. Most of the fish are in the deeper holes right on the bottom. Yesterday I did see more fish on the ledges instead of the deepest parts. If the hole was 18-20 some good fish might be right on the drop in 14-16. Caught fish as shallow as 10-12. Find deep brush and you find fish. Lots of gar stacked up in the deeper holes and that may be pushing the crappie out of the deeper parts. I'll be out in the cold all weekend chasing blue cats. Back at the crappie next week. Good luck.

That's the pattern we've seen too, Jacky.

Will the cold "recharge" the creeks with more fish from the lakes?
