What's the best locations on the Elm Fork to try to catch some of these fish from the bank?

Sandy Lake Spillway, California Crossing Spillway?

Thx!

Those are good places to start but conditions and timing have to be perfect. There are spots along the river that hold fish good at times but again, conditions have to be right. There are some HUGE sandies and hybrids in the river though.

Thx! I'm familiar with some of the elm fork, but mainly for carp/gar fishing. Any other locations you would care to recommend?

The Trinity above LL, going towards RR has a lot of drop in pts where the sandies, crappie and even hybrids go.

I've seen folks hammer crappie below ray Roberts this time of year floating minnows on a bobber.. Hybrids on flukes below the dam. I do not fish that area but stopped by on the clock to gaze! Timing for sure is key. Go getem and let us know!? I haven't had a pm in a while..

Right now the Elm Fork above Lake Lew is pretty well blocked off with multiple log jams and close to zero water release from the dam. I've only caught sandbass south of 380 below the log jams this fall/winter, although it's been a few weeks since I've tried fishing this section of the Elm Fork. I bet if timing is right there are pockets of fish closer to the dam but not sure? It will be interesting to see if fish will push in further north of the log jams with this spring's spawn.

The log jams are crazy. I tried walking the banks a little and was amazed how jammed up it is. On a side note, I did see someone sneaking out of the closed parking area off 380 with a 10ft Jon Boat that was obviously in the water. A little brave to move the barricades and launch a boat, but whatever. This stretch of water from RR to LL is my favorite fishing hole, but I decided not to bother with it for a while until we get a good flushing and get some of the log jams out. Would love to get my kayak in there again!!

I fished quite a long stretch between 380 and 428 over the last few weeks and they aren't in there. That or what used to work in that stretch changed for some reason. Usually it's hopping right now. Very disappointing so far this year.

What a maroon!

As thick as those log jams are, I can't see any fish with size coming through. Can't wait till mother nature finds a way to flush it all out.

There are fish in there but the problem is that they have way too many places to hide. It's like finding a needle in a haystack with all of the wood in the water.

I would think the fish can swim under and between the logs no?

Drove over the bridge yesterday on 380 and the log jams are even bigger. Maybe once the water recedes it will make some of the logs move. As of now, you wouldn't even be able to walk under the bridge, but you may be able to walk all the way across on the logs!!

Anyone know if the water they're releasing at ray Roberts has knocked the log jams out? Lol

Jimmy, those log jams aren't going anywhere for a while. It would take a major major flood I think to move them.

Sure would be nice to have a kayak to fish that log jam just on the north side of 380

What a maroon!
